Everyone serving with God's Kitchen, Inc. and Cavalry for Christ are volunteers, and our long-term missionaries would greatly benefit from being adopted or sponsored, either as a prayer or financial partner. YOUR SUPPORT ALLOWS MANY OF US TO CONTINUE TO STAY AND SERVE THE GULF COAST.
Greg Porter - Kentucky
September 14, 2005 - CURRENT
Greg is the founder and director of God's Katrina Kitchen. He came to the coast on September 14th, just two weeks after the storm, and became known as "the burger man!" He cooked hamburgers and hot meals in the middle of Hwy 90 in Pass Christian for the first two weeks, until joining with the group of missionaries and a church group who were opperating a distribution center and relocating after Hurricane Rita to the site on Beach Blvd. in Pass Christian.
Greg and Pam are business owners in both IN and KY. They have their own parking lot maintenance business which they have owned for many years, as well as they own the Buggy Shed, a family restaurant in KY.
Greg currently spends a lot of his time shared between the Gulf Coast and at home with Pam and their son, Matt. Greg is the executive director of God's Kitchen and is working on setting up the first response disaster relief team, Cavalry for Christ.
Greg encourages you to support the ministry of GKI or Cavalry for Christ First Response Disaster Relief which is currently organizing through God's Kitchen to respond to future disasters.

Vance came to the Gulf Coast on September 18th, when his church group was asked by the city of Pass Christian to establish a distribution center. The center was set up where Wal-Mart once stood for the first two weeks of operation, until Hurricane Rita coming through. After Rita they secured the site on Beach Blvd., and relocated.
Vance made several trips with the church group, assisting with the distribution center and doing clean up during September and October. He then returned home to bring Vicki and the kids back with him in December.
Prior to coming to the coast, Vance & Vicki had their own businesses, doing retail audits and providing natural home health care. They have two children, Vanessa and Ryan, who are 18 and 15.
Vanessa has recently returned to GKI, after graduating from high school in CO. She is working locally and serving with GKI. Ryan is volunteering with GKI and enrolled at New Life Academy.
Vance does the website and some of the IT work of the camp, and Vicki is the office manager and administrative director of God's Kitchen.

Greta Johnson - Kansas
March 2007 - CURRENT
Dave Bennett- Washington
2007 - CURRENT
Greta came to God's Katrina Kitchen in March of 2007, serving at GKK with another organization. She served on a short-term missions trip, prior to returning in June as a long-term volunteer.
Before coming to MS, Greta had spent most of her life in KS. She worked in the insurance business, and was a single parent.
At the time in her life when Greta came to the Coast, she was looking for a change. She had a desire to give back and serve others.
Greta has served multiple roles at GKI. Since coming, she has worked in the kitchen, lead unskilled work teams, served on skilled work crews with drywall and other rebuilding efforts, and assists with whatever is needing done. Greta has been a huge asset to our team, and keeps everyone well entertained with her sparkling sense of humor.
Greta's plans are to continue to serve in future disasters, and in preparation for those times.
